Buttercup

Buttercup is a popular, unspecific expression for various yellow flowering herbaceous meadow plants. For example, the following plants are regionally referred to as buttercups: Plants from the genus buttercup such as sharp buttercup ( Ranunculus acris ), burning buttercup ( Ranunculus flammula ), bulbous buttercup or bulbous buttercup ( Ranunculus bulbosus ), creeping buttercup ( Ranunculus repens ), tongue Buttercup ( Ranunculus lingua ) and venomous buttercup ( Ranunculus sceleratus ); the celandine ( Ficaria verna ); the marsh marigold ( Caltha palustris ); the globe flower ( Trollius europaeus ); the common dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale ); the marigold ( Calendula officinalis ); the alternate leaf spleen ( Chrysosplenium alternifolium ).
