Buuti Pedersen

Bodil Hansigne "Buuti" Pedersen (born August 26, 1955 in Qaqortoq ) is a Greenlandic artist .

Life

Buuti Pedersen is the daughter of master bricklayer Poul Peder Pedersen and his wife Konkordia Else Sofie Mariane Benjaminsen. Through her mother she is a great niece of the artist Johan Markussen (1906–1994). On May 9, 1992 in Lillerød she married the senior assistant Ole Gottschalck Jensen (* 1947), son of the electrical mechanic Vagn Gottschalck and the office assistant Ketty Elisabeth Jespersen.

Buuti attended the art school in Holbæk in 1973 and the recreational education seminar in Copenhagen from 1974 to 1977 . From 1977 to 1982 she worked as a teacher in Greenland and Denmark. From 1982 to 1986 she attended the Copenhagen School of Applied Art. Shortly afterwards, she exhibited art for the first time in Det Grønlandske Hus in Copenhagen. From 1991 to 1992 she headed the Greenland art workshop Qiperoq in Copenhagen. Her works have been exhibited in Greenland, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, France and Germany to this day.

She mainly devotes herself to landscape painting . She works with watercolor , pastel and oil colors . Her paintings are mostly true to life, but some of her works are also abstract . She was allowed to decorate several buildings in Greenland with her art. She has also regularly designed stamps for POST Greenland since 1995 .
