Buzz Bütow

Buzz Bütow (real name: Burkhard Bütow ) (born August 14, 1943 in Kolberg (Pomerania); † January 19, 2004 in Bremen ) was a German cartoonist , graphic designer, film and literature reviewer.

life and work

Bütow was born in Pomerania in 1943 and, after childhood, studied graphic design in the rural north of Lower Saxony and abandoned shipbrokerage in Bremen, Stuttgart and Hamburg. He worked for Die Zeit in Hamburg as art director and was responsible for his own columns: Buzz'z Reise Spitzz'zen, Buzz'z Thierleben . He drew numerous cartoons.

From 1972 he worked as a freelance graphic designer, cartoonist and film and literature reviewer. He was present in the press and radio and had numerous exhibitions in Bremen and the surrounding area.

A first comprehensive retrospective took place in 2008/2009 in Wilhelm Busch's birthplace in Wiedensahl .
