Byron Lee
Byron Lee (born June 27, 1935 in Christiana , Manchester Parish , † November 4, 2008 in Kingston ) was a Jamaican musician (bassist and band leader).
Life
Byron Lee was head of the band Byron Lee's All Chinese band , one of the most popular bands of Jamaica and was with the band The Dragon Aires and as the owner of the record label Dynamic Sounds paving the way for the success of Jamaican music in the world market.
Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman hired his band to create pieces of music for the film James Bond Chases Dr. No - Jump Up , Underneath the Mango Tree and Three Blind Mice . Byron Lee himself was also seen in the film: as a band leader in the Puss-Fellers Club, where his ensemble plays the song Jump Up .
Lee died of cancer on November 4, 2008.
