In 1990 she gained fame in the underground scene with the release of her self-titled album. On it was Rubens , an ambiguous love song that was censored by the authorities. Her follow-up album, ECT , released in 1992, has been dubbed the "battle cry for sexual freedom".

In 1993 Eller became the mother of Francisco Eller. In the same year she made known her longstanding relationship with Maria Eugenia Vieira Martins.
