Cecilia Arand

Cäcilie Arand , b. Schuhmacher (born February 2, 1838 in Winterstettenstadt near Biberach an der Riss ; † February 25, 1908 in Waldsee , Württemberg ) was a German writer .

Life

Cäcilie Schuhmacher was born as the daughter of a farmer and iron trader. She grew up in Upper Swabia and later went to Lausanne to learn the French language. In 1864 she married the doctor Hermann Ferdinand Arand in Waldsee. She began to work as a writer quite late. Her work consists mainly of short stories for the youth, often dealing with religious subjects. They were mainly published in predominantly Catholic magazines. Her collection of stories Immergrün was more widely used .
