Ingoldingen is a municipality in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg in Germany .
geography
Geographical location
Ingoldingen is located around nine kilometers southwest of Biberach an der Riss not far west of federal highway 30 . It is traversed by the Federbach, which flows southeast of the village into the Danube tributary Riss , from which one of two source streams in the southern part of the municipality Winterstettendorf rises.
Community structure
In addition to the main town of the same name, the municipality of Ingoldingen consists of the districts Degernau , Grodt , Winterstettenstadt , Winterstettendorf , Muttensweiler , Gensenweiler, Hervetsweiler, Wattenweiler and Hagnaufurt.
history
Until the 19th century
Ingoldingen was first mentioned in a document in 1083 as part of the investiture dispute . At that time it belonged to the Benedictine Abbey of St. Georgen. Later it fell to the Zähringer . In 1803 the place came to the Kingdom of Württemberg .
Spatial development of the urban area
In the course of the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg, the following municipalities and places were incorporated into Ingoldingen or united with Ingoldingen:
- June 1, 1972: Grodt and Muttensweiler
- December 1, 1974: Winterstettendorf
- January 1, 1975: Winterstettenstadt (merging with Ingoldingen to form the new municipality of Ingoldingen)
- January 1, 1976: the districts of Gensenweiler, Hervetsweiler, Wattenweiler and Hagnaufurt of the city of Bad Waldsee (from the former municipality of Michelwinnaden ).

Municipal council
In Ingoldingen, the municipal council is elected using the spurious selection of a part of town. The number of local councils can change due to overhang mandates . The municipal council consists of the elected voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. The local elections on May 26, 2019 led to the following final result. The turnout was 71.1% (2014: 60.4%).

Culture and sights
The district of Muttensweiler is located on both the Upper Swabian Baroque Road and the Upper Swabian Way of St. James from Ulm to Constance .
Buildings
The St. Jakobus Church, built by Jakob Emele in 1750/51, stands in a place that was mentioned as early as 1275 with a parish church. The interior of the church, renovated in 1983/84, is dominated by three altars. The high altar shows the beheading of the church patron James . The organ with fifteen registers was built in 1958 by the Biberach company Reiser .
