Kanzach is a municipality in the district of Biberach in Baden-Württemberg .

The community is about five kilometers west of the Federsee and northwest of Bad Buchau .
Community structure
The village of the same name, the hamlet of Seelenhof, the homestead Vollochhof (Obervolloch) and the Bahnhof Seelenwald and Vollochmühlen (Untervolloch) houses belong to Kanzach.
history
Kanzach was first mentioned in 1169 as "Canca". Around 1230 Ortolf von Pflimmern built a Bach knights ' castle in the style of a tower hill castle on the "Schlößlesberg". From 1442 to 1803 Kanzach belonged to the Buchau women's monastery . As a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , it fell to the Princes of Thurn and Taxis before it came to the Kingdom of Württemberg after the Peace of Pressburg in 1806 . There it belonged to the Oberamt Riedlingen and from 1938 to the district of Saulgau . In 1973 Kanzach came to the Biberach district as part of the district reform and at the same time joined the Bad Buchau community administration association.

On a yellow background a blue mill wheel, which symbolizes the local mills, and on it a red Adelindis cross, which reminds of the centuries of membership in Buchau Abbey.
Municipal council
The local council in Kanzach has eight members. It consists of the voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, the local council was elected by majority vote. Majority voting takes place if no or only one nomination has been submitted. The applicants with the highest number of votes are then elected. The turnout was 67.5% (2014: 62.5%).

Town twinning
A partnership exists with the French Segonzac (Charente) , a place in the wine-growing region for the production of cognac.
traffic
The last narrow-gauge line in Baden-Württemberg, the Federseebahn from Bad Schussenried via Bad Buchau to Riedlingen , was extended to Dürmentingen in 1915 . In 1916 the last stretch to Riedlingen was completed. In 1960 the line, which had stops in Kanzach and Seelenwald, was closed.
