The nature reserve Blinder See Kanzach is located in the areas of the municipality of Kanzach and the city of Riedlingen ( Neufra district ) in the Biberach district . It is a peated intermediate moor with a peat lake in the Dürmentinger forest . The area is part of the FFH area Federsee and Blinder See near Kanzach .
history
The reserve was placed under protection on March 1, 1989. The "Blinde See" was created in the 1920s after the artificial groundwater lowering of the Federsee through peat removal. In the meantime, however, it has again been covered with a swinging lawn, so that only a small part of the "Peat Stitching Lake" is still visible.
Flora and fauna
The Blind Lake near Kanzach is particularly important for the dragonfly species group. Among other things, the large moss maiden, which is protected according to the Habitats Directive, lives here .
