The southern Federseeried is a nature reserve in the east of the Baden-Württemberg district of Biberach, which was designated by the Tübingen regional council by ordinance of March 24, 1994 . It is part of the Federseeried bird sanctuary and the FFH area Federsee and Blinder See near Kanzach .

location

The Südliches Federseeried nature reserve is located between Bad Buchau and Oggelshausen in the Biberach district, south of state road 280 to the municipal boundary of Bad Schussenried. It belongs to the Federsee basin and is mostly in the Danube-Ablach-Platten natural area .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is “the maintenance, care and promotion of a fauna-rich and landscape-defining fen with the extensive use of meadows adapted to it, as well as floristic and faunistic high-quality raised moor relict sites as part of a future nature reserve complex, the Federsee Basin. Their regional, supraregional and international function as breeding and resting place for numerous migratory bird species and as a habitat for rare and highly endangered meadow breeders must be preserved. "

Landscape character

The nature of the protected area is essentially determined by large areas of wet and wet grassland and sedges. In the south of the area there are spruce forests that were reforested in former peat cuttings. Some small raised bog remains that have been severely impaired by the earlier peat extraction can also be found here.

Flora and fauna

The area hosts a large inventory of Whinchat . The stonechat also breeds here.
