Sidney Marie Parsons (born December 5, 1987 in Mesa ) is an American - German basketball coach and former player.

career

Player

Parsons grew up in the US state of Arizona and played at the Hamilton High School in the city of Chandler , in 2018 she was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" of the town. Her mother was born in Altmannstein in Bavaria . From 2006 to 2019, Parsons was a member of the University of Bridgeport 's college basketball team , and she also studied social sciences .

Parsons began her career as a professional basketball player at the German Bundesliga club ChemCats Chemnitz , for whom she played from the beginning of the 2010/11 season until December 2011 and then moved to the second division Grüner Stern Keltern at the end of 2011 . From 2012 to 2014, the 1.68 meter tall player was in the service of TSV Viernheim (2nd Bundesliga), then played for the Logan Thunder team in Australia in the 2014 spring season , before joining the Nördlinger  first division club in the run-up to the 2014/15 season BG Donau-Ries went. Between her two years in Nördlingen, Parsons played again in Australia in 2015 for Logan Thunder in the state of Queensland .

In 2016 Parsons left Nördlingen and then played in the spring seasons 2016 and 2017 for the South West Metro Pirates in Australia. In the 2016 game year she was the top scorer in the Queensland Basketball League (QBL) with an average of 26.8 points per match.

During her time as a player, Parsons was also employed as a coach at her respective clubs, primarily in the youth sector, in Nördlingen she coached the team in the female youth basketball league (WNBL) for two years . In August 2018 she was hired as head coach of the German Bundesliga club TSV Wasserburg  and led the TSV women to third place in the Bundesliga in their first year in office. In addition to her club activities in Wasserburg, she worked temporarily as an assistant trainer for the German women's national team. In the 2019/20 season, she was second in the table with Wasserburg when the game year was canceled in March 2020 due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus .
