The Ummendorfer Ried nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Biberach an der Riß and the communities of Hochdorf (Riß) and Ummendorf (near Biberach) in the Biberach district in Baden-Württemberg .
The area extends west of the core town of Ummendorf along the B 30, which runs to the west . The Riss , a right tributary of the Danube , flows through the area . The Ummendorfer Baggersee extends on the northeastern edge and a natural lake to the south of it.
meaning
The Umerndorfer Ried was first designated as a nature reserve on June 28, 1941. For Biberach an der Riss, Hochdorf and Ummendorf, a 121.5 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve since December 8, 1988 under the identification number 4.027. There is a " fen to bog remains to open water and abge torfte parts in various stages of development, with different areas of life." It is " resting and moulting area for a variety of migratory birds" and an "ideal illustrative object for moorkundliche Research and History . "
