The Schwaigfurter Weiher nature and landscape protection area is located in the area of the city of Bad Schussenried in Baden-Württemberg .
Characteristics
The protected areas were created on January 15, 1993 by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council with the protected area numbers 4215 (NSG) and 4.26.039 (LSG). This ordinance was published in the Law Gazette for Baden-Württemberg on March 26, 1993 and came into force on April 24, 1993. The CDDA code of the nature reserve is 165478 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .
location
The protected areas are located south of the Bad Schussenried district of Kürnbach and the hamlet of Laimbach . Most of them belong to the FFH area No. 8024-341 wetlands around Bad Schussenried and are located in the natural area 032 - Upper Swabian hill country within the natural spatial main unit 03 - Southern Alpine Foreland .
Protection purpose
According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose of the nature reserve is to maintain the Schwaigfurt pond as a breeding area for rare and sometimes endangered species of water and marsh birds. The protected area is also a habitat for numerous animal species that depend on life in and around the water. In the Schwaigfurter Weiher there are numerous rare plankton species and floating leaf plants. In the protected area there are valuable reed beds, litter meadows and break forest stands, the existence of which is to be secured.
The main protection purpose of the landscape protection area is to secure the ecologically necessary supplementary space for the nature reserve and the maintenance of the green areas necessary for the sustainable protection of the nature reserve as a buffer zone.
