The Riedschachen area is a nature reserve in the area of the city of Bad Schussenried in the district of Biberach, which was designated by the then Württemberg Minister of Culture on February 10, 1941 by ordinance . It is part of the Federseeried bird sanctuary and the FFH area Federsee and Blinder See near Kanzach .
location
The Riedschachen nature reserve is located about one kilometer northwest of the Sattenbeuren settlement in the Schussenried district in the southern part of the Federsee basin . The area belongs to the Danube-Ablach-Platten natural area .
Landscape character
The protected area is covered by a former bog edge forest, which today has developed into a mixed deciduous forest with spruce, birch, pine and beech as a result of drainage measures in the area. A high proportion of dead wood has formed due to its status as a protected forest .
