About this picture

Erlenmoos is a municipality in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia near the city of Ochsenhausen .

Community structure

Erlenmoos consists of the districts of Edenbachen , Eichbühl, Erlenmoos and Oberstetten.

Erlenmoos was able to maintain its independence during the municipal reform in 1975 and, together with the city of Ochsenhausen and the municipalities of Gutenzell-Hürbel and Steinhausen an der Rottum, forms an administrative community.

history

The history of Erlenmoos is closely related to the history of the monastery and the parish of Ochsenhausen: In 1128 knight Hatto von Grönenbach waived all claims he had on goods in Erlenmoos in favor of the Benedictine monastery in Ochsenhausen . The record of this is the first written mention of Erlenmoos. The Ochsenhausen monastery gained a foothold in Erlenmoos at an early stage and was instrumental in steering its fortunes for almost 700 years.
