Céüse is a mountain in the French department of Hautes-Alpes . Its summit plateau is inclined to the north, to the south it breaks off in a rock face up to 200 meters high. Céüse is part of a Natura 2000 area.

Climbing area

The Céüse climbing area essentially consists of the several kilometers long, semicircular rock face below the summit. The rock ledge facing south in the center, which is also known as the “most beautiful face in the world”, offers more than 200 routes in levels of difficulty 5c to 9a + (French scale), with the focus on routes in the seventh grade. The longest routes are six pitches long and lead to the summit.

The currently hardest and best-known route in the climbing area is the Realization (also: biography ), which was first started in 2001 by Chris Sharma , the second route in the world with a level of difficulty "9a +". Other well-known routes are also available from Sharma erstbegangene Three Degrees of Separation (9a), whose key points from three dynamos exist, as well as the route Bah Bah Black Sheep (8c +), first climbed by Dave Graham .
