The César Klein School is a community school with upper secondary school in Ratekau . It is named after César Klein , a German painter, graphic artist and set designer.

Current

The school responsible for the César-Klein-Schule is the community of Ratekau , it is a bound all-day school .

In August 2009, 744 students attended the César Klein school and 58 teachers were employed there, and four teachers were trained. Grades 5 to 10 are offered in four classes, the upper level is currently attended by around 70 students per year. The upper level consists of a natural science profile with the profile subject biology, a social science profile with the profile subject geography and an aesthetic profile with the profile subjects music or art.

The slaughter of a rabbit by a farmer as part of the “Stone Age” project week in March 2011 by a farmer attracted nationwide attention. As a result, a heated discussion began about the pros and cons about whether this could be expected of about 11-year-old students.

history

The César Klein School was founded in 2001 as the first integrated comprehensive school in the Ostholstein district at the Pansdorf location . The initiative to found the school came from parents. After three parent surveys in the southern Ostholstein district, all of which confirmed the need for a comprehensive school, the Ostholstein district council decided in 1999, with the votes of the SPD and the Greens, to set up the school. A new school building was to be built at the Pansdorf site. When a CDU politician became district administrator in July 2001, he refused to pay the construction costs for the new building. Nevertheless, in August 2001 the first 100 students started school in Pansdorf. A new building originally planned in Pansdorf could not be realized. After a CDU majority in the district council in the local elections in 2003, the district council decided to let the school run out and then to close it. The district's application was rejected by the state government of Schleswig-Holstein.

In October 2005, the Schleswig Administrative Court made a proposal for settlement, which was finally accepted. The community of Ratekau decided in December 2005 to take over the school sponsorship from the Ostholstein district as of January 1, 2007 and to build a new building in Ratekau near the secondary school. The move to the new building in Ratekau and the naming took place in September 2008.

In the summer of 2010, the first students left school with a high school diploma .

Architecture and buildings

With the decision to take over the school sponsorship by the municipality of Ratekau, a new building in Ratekau was also decided. The architects Petersen, Pörksen und Partner, Lübeck, were awarded the contract for their design, which is harmoniously based on the existing secondary school building. Between 2007 and 2008, a cafeteria, classrooms for grades 5 to 6 and specialist rooms for natural sciences and technology were built in the new building.

Educational work, equipment and offers

From grade 7 onwards, each child chooses an elective . French, Spanish, IT, as well as technology, economics and design are available as compulsory elective subject I.

There are permanent social workers at the César Klein School . The socio-pedagogical help and advice for students includes the planning, concept development and implementation of social group work (e.g. table group training) and individual help (e.g. student consultation, individual sessions).

In grades 5 and 6 there are no grades at the César Klein School, neither in tests, class work, nor in the certificate. As at any comprehensive school, you cannot stay seated at the César Klein School. If there are understandable reasons, parents can request that the child repeat a grade, but normally all students move on to the next grade.

public relation

The cafeteria association of the César-Klein-Schule e. V. Ratekau runs the cafeteria.

Since August 1, 2009, the César Klein School has participated in the EU-funded Comenius program . After first contacts at the beginning of the school year 2009/10 there are two projects with which a partnership between the César Klein School and the Uxbridge High School (in north London) is to be established.
