Côte-des-Neiges is a subway station in Montreal . It is located in the Arrondissement of Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce at the intersection of Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges and Avenue Lacombe. Trains of the blue line 2 run here . In 2006, 3,524,127 passengers used the station, which is the 26th place out of a total of 68 stations on Metro Montreal .

Building

The station designed by the architects Tétreault, Parents, Languedoc was created in the form of a tunnel station . Shapes and colors create a futuristic impression, reinforced by scaffolding on the ceiling from which the light fittings hang. The platforms are clad with brown-gray granite. The pavilion of the main entrance recalls with its clean lines at the mausoleum at the nearby Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery , the second input is integrated into a building.

The platform level with two side platforms is 17.6 meters deep . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 764.60 meters to Université-de-Montréal and 959.60 meters to Snowdon . There are connections to three bus lines and a night bus line of the Société de transport de Montréal . Nearby attractions include the St. Joseph's Oratory and the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemetery.

art

A 9.1 meter high and 4.6 meter wide, glass mural by Claude Bettinger dominates the distribution level. A cybernetic network of tubes in violet and purple tones is shown. On the stairs to the second entrance are four abstract bronze and aluminum sculptures by the artist Bernard Chaudron. They are reminiscent of beehives and are provided with small figurines, which symbolize the numerous people in the metro during rush hour.

history

The station opened on January 4, 1988, along with the Parc - Snowdon section of the blue line. The namesake is the Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges. This main street has existed since 1698 when a path first led to the side of Mont Royal facing away from the city . As a result, the village of Côte-des-Neiges was created, which was merged with Montreal at the beginning of the 20th century.
