CD99 (synonym MIC2 ) is a surface protein from the group of transport proteins .

properties

CD99 is involved in cell migration and cell adhesion of T cells . It also serves to transport ganglioside GM1 and to cause caspase- independent cell death of T cells. Probably CD99 is in the change of the actin - cytoskeleton involved. CD99 is a tumor suppressor in osteosarcomas . CD99 is glycosylated and phosphorylated . CD99 inhibits the binding to integrin β-1 and thus the binding to the extracellular matrix .
