history

CEMEX Deutschland AG has its origins in Düsseldorf and emerged in 2005 from Readymix AG , a subsidiary of the British company RMC Group plc The British company RMC Group plc built its first ready-mixed concrete plant in Germany in 1955 with an initial annual production of 8,000 cubic meters of ready-mixed concrete.

In 1965 Readymix AG was founded as a management company. With over 50 locations and 2.1 million cubic meters of concrete as well as 0.8 million tons of gravel annual capacity, the company was the market leader in Germany at that time. With the establishment of Readymix Kies GmbH and the acquisition of the Beckum cement plant in 1969, the product range was expanded to include mineral raw materials and cement.

In the early 1980s Readymix AG expanded into the Netherlands . After the reunification of Germany, the company acquired Rüdersdorfer Zement GmbH, the largest cement producer in the GDR at the time . Around 300 million euros were invested in the modernization of the plant, 60 million euros alone went to environmental protection measures. The dust emissions of 50,000 t in 1990 could be reduced by over 90 percent. In the mid-1990s, further branches were added in Poland and the Baltic States.

With the acquisition of Wülfrather Zementwerke in 1998, Readymix AG became one of the three largest cement manufacturers in Germany. In 2000 the company underwent an organizational change in which the foreign companies were separated from the German group of companies and placed directly under the parent company RMC Group plc.

With the takeover of Readymix AG by the globally active CEMEX with headquarters in Monterrey, Mexico, CEMEX Deutschland AG was created in 2005.
