The series number 92 80 1271 was assigned to this type in the German Vehicle Settings Register.

At SBB Cargo , they have the series designation Am 842. Only three of them are G 1000 BB, the two older (ex Sersa ) are MaK G 1204 BB .
Some locomotives were leased from what was then Railion Deutschland (now DB Cargo Deutschland ) in 2006 in order to test their suitability as a possible successor to the 290/294 series . They were given the series number 261 for this purpose, but these bookkeeping numbers were not written on the vehicles. The series number 261 has now been assigned to the Voith Gravita 10 BB .
One machine ran on the Kirkenes – Bjørnevatn railway in Northern Norway between 2009 and 2016 .

In terms of design, it corresponds to the less powerful G 800 BB , the engine hood is only slightly higher and the edges are bevelled.
