The locomotives of the series XIV of the Chemins de fer Compagnie Orientaux in Germany (CFO), Orient train called were two-cylinder steam - steam locomotives with the " Prairie " mentioned Achsfolge 1'C1 'which from 1911 by Hanomag were delivered to the CFO. These were the last express train locomotives for the CFO and when the CFO rolling stock was split up, they remained in Greece .

history

After the total of six 2'C-n4v express locomotives of the series CFO VIII from 1897 and CFO IX from 1908, the CFO acquired the four locomotives of the series XIV from 1911 as its last pure express locomotives for high-quality passenger traffic . The first three with the numbers 71 –73 were built by Hanomag in 1911 under the serial numbers 6302 to 6304, followed by the number 74 with the serial number 6845 from the same manufacturer in 1913.

After the First World War and the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), a solution to the complex border, ownership and operational relationships of the CFO was only possible after the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne . Now part of the CFO network was on Greek and part on Turkish territory. In 1929, the Compagnie de Chemin de fer Franco-Hellenique (CFFH) took over the section of the CFO main line Istanbul - Edirne - Svilengrad from Pythion , which was on Greek territory, with the section in Turkish territory near Edirne and the branch line Pythion - Alexandroupoli (until 1920 Dedeagatsch ). She took over 17 locomotives from the CFO while maintaining the numbers, including all four of the XIV series.

In 1955 the CFFH was nationalized. The Greek state railway Sidirodromoi Ellinikou Kratos (SEK) took over the locomotives as the series Ζε ( Zeta - epsilon ) with the numbers 333 to 336. According to other information, they received the series Εδ (epsilon delta ) and the numbers 251 to 254. a locomotive was discarded and the other received series Ζε or Ζγ (zeta gamma ) and the numbers 331-333.

In 1976 the locomotives had been decommissioned for a long time.

technology

The machines, which were approved for 85 km / h, had coupling wheels of 1640 mm . The running axles , designed as Adam's axles , could each be laterally displaced by 65 mm. The superheater had a heating surface of 39 m².
