The Club Gel Puigcerdà is a Spanish ice hockey club from Puigcerdà , which was founded in 1972 and plays in the super league.

history

In 1972, the CH Puigcerdà was one of the six founding members of the Superliga , the highest Spanish ice hockey league . It took eleven years to win the first title before winning the Spanish Cup in 1983. Three years later, the club became Spanish champions for the first time and won the championship and cup double for the first time in the same year. The club from Catalonia has had its most successful period since the turn of the millennium. Between 2003 and 2008, the club made it to the Spanish Cup final five times and won it four times. Since the turn of the millennium, the CG Puigcerdà has reached the final of the Spanish championship nine times, three of which have been won.

CG Puigcerdà has a long European history, but so far they have only won one game at international level with a draw and 19 defeats in 21 games. The Catalans achieved this only victory in a European club competition on October 19, 2008 in the second round of the IIHF Continental Cup 2008/09 at 6: 5 (3: 3, 2: 2, 1: 0) over HK Novi Sad from Serbia .
