Vasily Koshechkin ( Russian Василий Владимирович Кошечкин , English Vasily Koshechkin * 27. March 1983 in Tolyatti , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who since May 2013 when Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League play.

Career

Vasily Koschetschkin began his career in 1998 with the second team of the HK Lada Tolyatti . In the 2002 NHL Entry Draft , the Tampa Bay Lightning selected him in the eighth round in 233rd place. In the 2002/03 season he played for Olimpija Kirovo-Chepetsk and Neftjanik Almetyevsk . Between 2003 and 2007, the goalkeeper went back to the HK Lada Tolyatti on the ice, before moving to Ak Bars Kazan for the 2007/08 season. At his hometown club HK Lada Tolyatti, Koschetschkin was under contract again between summer 2008 and November 2009 before he moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . At the end of June 2010, he moved to Severstal Tscherepowez within the KHL , where he developed into a top performer within the team.

In May 2013 he returned to Metallurg Magnitogorsk and won the KHL championship trophy , the Gagarin Cup , with Metallurg 2014 .

International

For the 2007 World Cup , Koschetschkin was appointed to the Russian national team. He was used in three games and won the bronze medal with the selection team. Two years later he won the gold medal with the team. At the 2018 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal under a neutral flag, was in goal at all of his team's games and was also appointed to the tournament's all-star team.
