Roman Jurjewitsch Lyubimow ( Russian Роман Юрьевич Любимов ; English transcription: Roman Lyubimov ; born January 6, 1992 in Tver ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been playing the left winger at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League since August 2018 .
Career
Lyubimov learned to play ice hockey in the club of his hometown, the THK Tver . As a 16-year-old, the striker was a regular in the second team of HK CSKA Moscow , for which he played in the third-rate Perwaja Liga in the 2008/09 season. In a total of 67 missions he scored 16 goals and prepared another seven. The season 2009/10 Lyubimow then spent age-appropriate in the newly introduced Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League at ZSKAs junior team Krasnaja Armija . The attacker also belonged to the following two seasons of the MHL junior team, which he led as team captain to win the title at the end of the 2010/11 season. At the same time, he started playing in the first team of the Army Club in the Continental Hockey League .
At the beginning of the 2012/13 game year Lyubimov was finally part of the KHL squad and ran in 31 games for the team. On loan, he also completed some assignments for his home club THK Tver in the second-rate Wysschaja Hockey League . It was similar in the following season, when he also completed two missions in the WHL. There he ran for HK Kuban Krasnodar . Nevertheless, he established himself as a regular player with 42 appearances for ZSKA. The left winger filled this position until the end of the 2015/16 season . His achievements - especially in the defensive area - ultimately led him to accept an offer for a year from the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League in mid-July 2016 and then moved to North America . After playing 47 games for the Flyers over the course of the season, he returned to CSKA in the summer of 2017.
After a year at CSKA, he moved to HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in August 2018 .
International
For his home country Lyubimov played in the junior division at the U18 Junior World Championship 2010 in Belarus . He finished fourth with the team. The striker made his debut for the Sbornaja during the 2015/16 season as part of the Euro Hockey Tour , where he was recommended for a place in the squad for the 2016 World Cup . There he contributed significantly to winning the bronze medal with four goals and just as many assists in ten missions.
