Yevgeny Nikolajewitsch Birjukow ( Russian Евгений Николаевич Бирюков ; born April 19, 1986 in Magnitogorsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League since 2002 .

Career

Yevgeny Biryukov began his career as a hockey player in the youth of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 2002 to 2005 . He then received a professional contract with Metallurg's first team from the Russian Super League . With his team, Birjukow first won the Spengler Cup in 2005 , and then the Russian championship in the 2006/07 season . In addition, the defender reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup with Metallurg in the 2007/08 season , in which he and his team beat the Czech champions HC Sparta Prague 5-2.

International

For Russia , Birjukow took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2004 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2006 .
