Egor Yakovlev ( Russian Егор Константинович Яковлев ; English transcription: Yegor and Egor Konstantinovich Yakovlev * 17th September 1991 in Magnitogorsk , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian ice hockey player who since May 2019 when Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the KHL signed stands. He became world champion with the Russian national team in 2014 and won the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics under a neutral flag .
Career
Yegor Jakowlew began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , where he was active until 2008. He then joined Ak Bars Kazan , for whose second team he was initially active for a year in the third-rate Pervaya League . From 2009 to 2011 he played for the junior team Bars Kazan in the multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga . At the same time, the defender made his debut for the professional team of Ak Bars Kazan in the Continental Hockey League in the 2010/11 season , with no point or penalty in his only use. In addition, he ran for Neftjanik Almetyevsk in the Vysschaja Hockey League and reached the playoff final with the team.

The 2011/12 season began Yakovlev also at Bars Kazan in the MHL and Neftjanik Almetjewsk in the Vysschaja Hockey League, before he moved to Lokomotive Yaroslavl during the season . He then stood for the junior team Loko Yaroslavl in the MHL and the professional team of the club in the Vysschaja Hockey League on the ice. Due to the plane crash near Yaroslavl and the death of almost the entire KHL squad, this had participated as a visiting team in the second division. In the 2012/13 season , the left shooter prevailed as a regular at Lokomotive Yaroslavl after the team returned to the KHL game. At the same time, he also played in two games for the club's second team in the Wysschaja Hockey League.
From the 2013/14 season he played exclusively in the Lokomotiv KHL team and developed into a national player. After the 2014/15 season, his contract with the club ran out and Yakovlev moved to SKA Saint Petersburg in June 2015 , where he signed a three-year contract. With Saint Petersburg, the defender won the Gagarin Cup in 2017 and became the Russian champion . After the 2017/18 season, the Russian decided to move to North America and signed a one-year contract with the New Jersey Devils from the National Hockey League (NHL) in May 2018 . On November 11, 2018, the defender made his debut in the National Hockey League. At the same time, the one for their farm team , the Binghamton Devils , was used in the American Hockey League . In May 2019, after playing 25 games for the Devils, Yakovlev returned to Russia for HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk from his hometown.
International
With the Russian national team , Yakovlev won gold and silver medals at the 2014 and 2015 world championships . He also represented his home country under a neutral flag at the 2018 Winter Games and became Olympic champion there.
