Car number 2265 of the ZET

CROTRAM is a Croatian consortium of three companies, the first low-floor - tram Croatia (the model TMK 2200 ) manufactures. At first the consortium consisted of the companies Končar , Gredelj and Đuro Đaković . ĐĐ left the consortium, however, with the production of the chassis and the hydraulics being entrusted to the German companies SAMES Hydro-Systemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG and Henschel Antriebstechnik GmbH .

The first delivery of 70 units for the Zagreb public transport company Zagrebački električni tramvaj (ZET), the operator of the Zagreb tram , lasted from May 2005 to June 2007. Satisfied with the quality of the cars delivered, the City of Zagreb and ZET signed an order in June 2007 for a further 70 units that were delivered by the end of 2009. The prototype of the second series was presented in Zagreb at the end of December 2007, four months before the deadline. It will be on the streets of Zagreb from mid-January 2008.

Many foreign cities, including cities in Australia , France , Poland and Serbia , have already shown their interest in buying this tram. The Helsinki tram has put a unit into trial operation for testing. For the Croatian economy it is particularly important that over 70 percent of the parts come from the home country, especially the sophisticated electronics.

The tram is 32 meters long, holds over 200 passengers and the maximum speed is limited to 70 km / h. The latest technologies and construction methods were used in the design of the TMK 2200. For example, it is operated by synchronous computers and is fully equipped with cameras . The price is significantly lower compared to competitors such as Siemens or Bombardier .
