Caitlin Elisabeth Rose (born June 23, 1987 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American alternative country musician.

Career

Caitlin Rose is the daughter of Liz and Johnny B. Rose, who work as songwriters and managers in country music, respectively. She came to Nashville when she was seven, and her parents separated when she was ten. She attended high school and wrote her first punk rock song at the age of 16 before gradually taking an interest in country music.

Rose has long been a singer and songwriter under the name Save Macaulay and performed in the bars and clubs of Nashville. Shortly before their first release, the name was given up and Caitlin Rose released the planned EP on the Theory 8 label in early 2008 under her own name. She had written five of the titles on it herself, two more were cover versions, including the title song from the Rolling Stones . She also supported her solo career with appearances, for example in the opening act for Lori McKenna , who had her breakthrough in 2007 and for whom her mother worked as a songwriter.

The label Names released Dead Flowers on the British market and produced the debut album Own Side Now with her . It was released in Great Britain in 2010 and reached number 89 in the extended charts. With the exception of a cover version ( That's Alright by Fleetwood Mac ), all of the songs were again by herself. The editors of the German edition of the music magazine Rolling Stone chose the record under “Die best albums 2010 ”, Time magazine put it in 7th place in the USA the following year, but the LP remained largely unsuccessful in the USA.

The following year Rose moved to the New York label ATO Records. In a year and a half she produced her second album, again with musician and producer Skylar Wilson, among others. The Stand-In was released in early March 2013 and reached number 54 on the official UK charts.
