history

In spring 2001 it was announced that the Calgary Roughnecks would be the tenth team of the NLL. On November 24, 2001, the team made its debut in the NLL against the also new franchise of the Montréal Express . The Roughnecks lost the game 17-32. The game made NLL history as the encounter with the most goals.

In the 2003 season they were able to qualify for the playoffs for the first time , but failed there clearly due to the Buffalo Bandits . In 2004 they reached the last qualifying place for the playoffs. In the division semi-finals, they beat the San Jose Stealth in a tight game . After beating the Colorado Mammoth in the division final , they also won the Champion's Cup final against the Buffalo Bandits.

In the 2005 season , the Roughnecks played a very good regular season and took first place in the Western Division and were thus automatically qualified for the division finals. But there they lost to the Arizona Sting .

Also in the 2006 season , the team retired early when they failed to score against the Colorado Mammoth.
