history

Game at the Xcel Energy Center against the Philadelphia Wings

The Minnesota Swarn team was founded in 2004 when Minnesota Sports & Entertainment , which also includes the Minnesota Wild ice hockey team , took over the licensing rights of the inactive Montreal Express. On December 10, 2004, the newly formed team completed their first preparation game against the Colorado Mammoth in front of over 14,000 spectators . The first game of the NLL season on January 1, 2005 won the Swarm at the Rochester Knighthawks with 12:11. The first season ended with five wins and eleven defeats. As fifth in the Eastern Division, the team missed the playoffs. In the 2006 and 2007 seasons, the team was able to qualify as fourth and third in the division for the playoffs, but failed each in the division semi-finals. In 2008 the season could be finished for the first time as division first, but as in the previous two years, the Swarm were eliminated in the playoffs in the semifinals.
