Toronto Rock is a team of the North American National Lacrosse League (NLL) based in Toronto . The franchise was founded in 1998 in Hamilton, Ontario as the Ontario Raiders ; after it was bought by an assistant general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs ice hockey team , it was relocated to Toronto in 1999.

successes

After moving to Toronto in 1999, the team was able to win the Champion's Cup , the championship trophy of the NLL. The team developed into a constant contender for the championship and made it to the final five times in a row from 1999 to 2003 and won the Champion's Cup in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003.

In 2004 Toronto Rock was eliminated in the final of the Eastern Division, but then won the fifth championship title in the 2005 season . The cheers for the Champion's Cup quickly died down as the team's former coach, Les Bartley , who coached the team for the first five seasons, died of cancer less than 18 hours later at the age of 51.

They had the worst season of their existence in 2006, when they only finished third in the Eastern Division after the regular season and were eliminated in the division semi-finals.

With six championship titles, they are the most successful Canadian team in MILL / NLL history. Only the Philadelphia Wings are just as successful with six titles in the entire history of the league.
