The Philadelphia Wings are a team of the North American National Lacrosse League (NLL) and are based in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . In 1987, the team was one of the founding members of the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League, which was named Major Indoor Lacrosse League (MILL) in 1989 and converted into the NLL in 1998. The Wings are the only team that have competed in all seasons in MILL / NLL history.
successes
After the team was eliminated in the semi-finals of the playoffs in its first two years , it was able to celebrate its first championship title in 1989 and repeat the success the following year. However, they missed the playoffs in 1991.
From 1992 to 1996 they were five times in a row in the finals and were able to win the championship twice. In 1998 the MILL was converted into the NLL and the Philadelphia Wings won the Champion's Cup , which was played for the first time and which was immediately awarded as a championship trophy.
After another win of the Champion's Cup in 2001, the team fell into a sporting hole and has not been able to reach the playoffs since then.
No other team in MILL / NLL history has as many championship titles with six as the Philadelphia Wings. There were also three further finals.
