history
The building contract for the boat was awarded to the Germania shipyard in Kiel on November 21, 1936 . The keel was laid on February 23, 1937, the launch on April 27, 1938, the commissioning under Lieutenant Alexander Gelhaar on June 25, 1938.

- October 14, 1939: sinking of the French steamer Bretagne ( Lage ) (10,108 GRT). The steamer had general cargo loaded and was on the way from Cristóbal (Panama) and Kingston (Jamaica) to Le Havre . The ship belonged to convoy KJF-3. There were seven dead.
Whereabouts
