Calimero ( jap. カリメロ ) is an Italian cartoon character to a Japanese Anime - television series and produced a computer animated series in the 2010s. The figure of a black chick with an egg shell on its head was invented as an advertising figure back in July 1963.

The anime television series is about Calimero, who lives in Palermo and has many adventures with his girlfriend Priscilla and other residents.

Production and publication

In 1972 the Japanese studio Toei Animation produced a 47-part anime television series with the character Calimero. It was directed by Kazuya Miyazaki , Takeshi Tamiya and Yugo Serikawa , the character design is by Shinya Takahashi and the artistic direction was taken over by Hideo Chiba. It was first broadcast from January 6, 1972 to June 6, 1973 by TROS in the Netherlands. The series was broadcast in Japan from October 15, 1974 to September 30, 1975 by TV Asahi .

The anime was broadcast in French on TF1, RTL4 and TROS , among others . The series has also been translated into Italian . The German-language broadcast took place on October 5, 1972 on the ZDF station . It was later broadcast on ORF 1 and SRF 1 .

In 1992 Toei Animation produced a second season of 52 episodes. This was first broadcast from October 15, 1992 to September 9, 1993. It was also shown in French on Teletoon TPS and in 1996 on TF1.

Season 1 music was composed by Tadashi Kinoshita . The opening credits of the original, Boku wa Calimero ( ぼ く は カ リ メ ロ , Boku wa Kalimero ) and the end credits Suki nano Priscilla ( 好 き な の プ リ シ ラ , Suki nano Purishira ) and Kono Kao da are? ( こ の 顔 だ あ れ? ) were sung by Rina Yamazaki . The lyrics are from Taichi Yamada and Takeshi Yoshida .

The music of the 2nd season comes from Junnosuke Yamamoto. The opening song was Nē! Calimero ( ね ぇ! カ リ メ ロ ) and Koi ni Ki o Tsukete ( 恋 に 気 を つ け て ) as the final song , both sung by Raspberry.
