Calomyxa is a genus of slime molds from the order of the Trichiida . It only includes two types.
features
The stalked or sessile, spherical to cushion-shaped fruiting bodies are sporocarp to plasmodiocarp . The single-layer, membranous peridium is either translucent or covered on its surface with calcareous nodules.
The scalp consists of long, narrow, twisted threads that are firm and have tiny nodules on the surface. They are at the base of the sporocarp and occasionally anchored to the peridium.

Calomyxa metallica is common and widespread on both living trees and deadwood , whereas Calomyxa synspora lives in alpine regions .
Systematics and research history
The genus was first described in 1916 by Julius Arthur Nieuwland , the type species is Calomyxa metallica . The genus includes two types:
