Cam Akers (* 22. June 1999 in Jackson , Mississippi ) is an American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He plays for the Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Akers played college football at Florida State University for three years . In his first season in college (2017), he ran just over 1000 yards for his team, scoring 7 touchdowns as a runner and one more as a pass recipient. In his second college season Akers could not build on his numbers from the previous year and could only run 706 yards. However, as in the previous year, he was able to achieve a total of 8 touchdowns for his university. In 2019, in his third and final year of college, Akers made a name for himself with a total of 18 touchdowns. He scored 14 of the 18 touchdowns as a runner and caught another four. He also set a new personal record with 1144 yards.

NFL

Akers was selected 52nd place by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft . Akers was the fourth running back to be drafted in 2020 after Clyde Edwards-Helaire , D'Andre Swift and Jonathan Taylor . The Rams chose Akers with their first right of choice in the 2020 draft, their first round pick they had given in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for Jalen Ramsey . Akers was brought in by the Rams to compensate for the sacking of Todd Gurley , along with already established running backs Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson .
