Camerata Musica Limburg is a male vocal ensemble founded in 1999, which has been under the direction of Jan Schumacher ever since. The foundation meant for the choir members a further development of the common musical roots in the choir of the Limburger Domsingknaben . The singers have set themselves the goal of continuing the tradition of the successful male chamber choirs of the former Limburg cathedral choir boys.

The ensemble presents the public with unknown works of male choir literature, whereby the traditional canon of compositions should not be neglected.

The repertoire ranges from Gregorian singing and works by old masters to romantic motets, contemporary compositions and arrangements of jazz / pop songs. The examination of new choral music led to some compositions that were specially composed for Camerata Musica Limburg.

The call of the choir led to festival and concert invitations throughout Germany as well as to other European and non-European countries, including the 9th World Choir Symposium 2011 in Puerto Madryn in Argentina .

In 2004, Camerata Musica Limburg was named the first “hr classical choir of the year”. In 2006 the ensemble received first prize at the international choir competition “Florilège Vocal” in Tours in France and in 2007 another first prize at the international choir competition in Vlaanderen-Maasmechelen (Belgium), where the choir also received a special prize for the outstanding interpretation of the contemporary compulsory work got awarded.

In May 2008 the choir won two first prizes in the romantic and modern categories at the 1st International Choir Competition as part of the Bremen Choir Festival . In addition, the singers received the special prize from Deutschlandradio Kultur , a CD recording with a sound engineer from Deutschlandradio. In spring 2009 the first CD "Schöne Nacht" with romantic male choir literature was released by the Leipzig classic label GENUIN , in autumn 2009 the second recording "Von dem Dome" with sacred literature (Mendelssohn, Schubert, Cornelius), a production by GENUIN and Deutschlandradio Kultur . After participating in the finals of the European broadcasters' choir competition “Let the people sing” in Oslo in autumn 2009, the Camerata Musica Limburg celebrated its tenth anniversary with a concert in the High Cathedral of Limburg. a. five world premieres were heard.
