Camilla von Hollay , also Kamilla Hollay , born in Kamillá Hollay , (born November 7, 1899 in Budapest , † February 9, 1967 in Budapest) was a Hungarian actress .

Life

The daughter of the industrialist Adalbert Hollay did not study medicine against the wishes of her parents after graduating from school in 1915, but attended an acting school. She then played for two years at the Lustspielhaus in Budapest and other stages in plays such as Liliom and Pygmalion .

She got her first role in a Hungarian silent film in 1913, from 1916 she was seen more often on the screen. In 1922 she came to Germany to take on the leading role in the film Das Feuerschiff . Only from now on did she appear under the name "Camilla von Hollay". She worked in several German films during the 1920s, but even before the start of the sound film age, her tasks became less and less important. After her marriage to a journalist in 1931, she withdrew into private life.
