Campo Bom is a city in the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul . The city had around 60,000 inhabitants in 2010. It belongs in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre .

Campo Bom is located on the Rio dos Sinos about 50 kilometers north of Porto Alegre . The urban area borders directly to the east on Novo Hamburgo . To the northeast, at a distance of 5 kilometers, is Sapiranga . The Serra Gaúcha begins behind it .

The city extends over 61 km². The climate is subtropical with an average annual temperature of 19 ° C.

The city had the first Lutheran church in southern Brazil and the first bike path in Brazil.
