Can Atilla

Can Atilla (* 1969 in Ankara ) is a Turkish composer and musician in the field of film music and electronic instrumental music .

Life

Atilla graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory in 1990 ( violin department ) with a " Bachelor of Arts " degree and began composing music for films and theater in the early 1990s. In 1992, Waves of Wheels was his first electronic album, and from 1996 Atilla began recording music in its own production studio POeM . In addition to composing, Atilla was also active as a musician, among other things as a violinist in the symphony orchestra of the Turkish President ( Cumhurbaşkanlığı Senfoni Orkestrası ) and as a pianist and conductor.

While Atilla's film music is mostly symphonic pieces with national influences and vocal parts, his electronic albums are strongly influenced by the classic Berlin school (sometimes wrongly called " New Age ") and internationally known artists such as Jean Michel Jarre , Vangelis or Mike Oldfield influenced. Can Atilla dedicated the album Ave , released in 1999, to the 30th anniversary of the Berlin band Tangerine Dream , and his first synthesizer album Waves of Wheels is also strongly influenced by the Tangerine Dream style of the late 1980s. Therefore, these albums gained notoriety especially in the European and US electronic scene. Since the 2000s, together with the CDs Live , Omni and Concorde that were later produced, they have been published and distributed by the Dutch specialist label Groove Unlimited by musician Ron Boots .
