The Canadian Music Week ( CMW for short ) is a four-day music festival that has been held regularly since 1981 and takes place in Toronto / Ontario .

The music festival was first held in 1981 and has become one of the most important music events in Canada . The event lasts four days. The festival has annually attracted more than 2,000 music delegates, both nationally and internationally. In 2009 over 390 professional musicians and producers from the music industry took part. Among other things, an award ceremony , conferences and one of the largest new music festivals are held. 500 bands play at the four-day festival each year, including well-known greats such as Wolfmother and Public Enemy . Newcomer bands like Your Favorite Enemies also took part in Canadian Music Week. Alone 40 bands play alone in downtown Toronto within four days.

Hall of Fame

Bands and musicians who have already achieved a lot, both on the national and international stage, will receive a place in the festival's Hall of Fame . Parachute Club , The Pursuit of Happiness , Martha and the Muffins , DOA and Rough Trade have already received this honor . Rock bands have also been honored since 2008. Alanis Morissette received the first entry at CMW 2008.
