Your Favorite Enemies is a Canadian alternative founded in 2006 by Alex Foster (vocals), Jeff Beaulieu (guitar), Sef (guitar), Ben Lemelin (bass), Miss Isabel (vocals and keyboards) and Charles Moose Allicy (drums) Rock band.

history

The six musicians created the Hopeful Tragedy Records label in April 2007 for their self-produced five-song EP And If I Was To Die In the Morning… Would I Still Be Sleeping With You , which was released on July 1, 2007, to to sell. On June 17th, 2008 they released their first enhanced CD : Love Is A Promise Whispering Goodbye . In 2008 they worked with Japanese video game composer Takeharu Ishimoto to write three songs for the soundtrack of the game Dissidia: Final Fantasy , which was also released in Europe on September 4, 2009.

Your Favorite Enemies are anti-racism spokesmen for Amnesty International and are also committed to the Rock'n'Rights organization that they founded themselves. They also took part in Canadian Music Week a few times and the US music magazine Billboard wrote: "Six Canadian artists are making their way into the international starry sky".

At the Juno Awards 2015 the group was nominated in the Rock Album of the Year category for Between Illness & Migration .

Hopeful Tragedy Records

Your Favorite Enemies created their own music label in 2007 called Hopeful Tragedy Records . The reason for the establishment of the label was the production of their EP And If I Was to Die in the Morning ... Would I Still Be Sleeping with You , which was released on June 1, 2007.

The band was aware of the financial risks they could face if they started their label, so the decision was made to produce the EP anyway. This turned out to be an important step in their career, the EP sold 30,000 times worldwide, the band went on a promotion tour in Europe for the first time , where they were accompanied by leading international media. The Billboard magazine described the band as one the most exciting and best do-it-yourself -Bands that there are and believe that they could rise to one of the most famous rock bands in the world.

Tours

European Tour (September 25th to October 4th 2007)

In 2007 the band toured Germany , France , Great Britain and the Netherlands . The band was supported by their partner Amnesty International . Articles about the band were published in the organization's French and Dutch magazines. The band also gave interviews on English Talksport Radio and the French Rock One Magazine .

Asia Tour (May 26th to June 5th, 2008)

Japan

The band toured Japan in 2008, including Tokyo , Nagoya and Osaka . The concerts were commented on by several leading national magazines. These include concert reports on Grindhouse Magazine and WeROCKCity . The band is known for their devotion to their fans, so the band gave a concert for fans who campaign for help against suicide .

Indonesia

The band gave a concert at the SuperSoulmate Show , which is broadcast on Indosiar , the largest Indonesian television station. The band was the opening act for Story of the Year , which increased the band's profile and brought thousands of fans in Indonesia .

Other festivals

Since its inception, the band has not only made global appearances, but has also performed several domestic and US appearances . They have performed four times at the Canadian Music Week (most recently in 2010), M for Montreal, the Arcadia Festival, the Vans Warped Tour , Emergenza and SXSW .

Music genre

The band names The Clash and The Cure as musical influences. The National Post also quotes Joe Strummer on the band's influences. Other influences are Ramones , Pixies , Nirvana , Placebo , U2 and Radiohead .

Special

  • Before Alex Foster founded the band, he was a member of a Canadian right-wing extremist organization . He justified his joining with his difficult childhood, frequent changes of school, problems with authorities, his disorientation, as well as his readiness to aggression and violence.
  • Miss Isabel has opened her own blog on the band's official MySpace page , which has already been translated into several languages ​​(including: English , German , French and Chinese ).
