Canal Vega
Coordinates: 65 ° 15 ′ S , 144 ° 0 ′ E
The Canale Wega is a deep-sea trench about 30 km long and 100 km wide in the East Antarctic D'Urville Sea . It is located in a north-south orientation between the Jussieu and Buffon canyons off the Georg V coast in East Antarctica .
Italian scientists named it in 2007. It is named after the acronym of the Italian-Australian research project W ilk E s basin G l A cial history to investigate the glaciation history of the Wilkes subglacial basin , in the course of which the deep-sea trench was discovered in 2000.
