The Caninus Nunatak is a 700 m high nunatak on the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It rises east of the Palindrome Buttress in the northern part of the Walton Mountains .
The British Antarctic Survey killed and buried nine sled dogs here as part of a field research campaign that ran from 1974 to 1975. This event gave its name to the nunatak.
