Canobie Corkscrew in Canobie Lake Park ( Salem , New Hampshire , USA ) is a steel roller coaster model Corkscrew by the manufacturer Arrow Dynamics , which was originally opened in 1975 as the Chicago Loop in Old Chicago .

history

It opened in 1975 as the Chicago Loop in the Old Chicago indoor theme park in Bolingbrook ( Illinois ). It was the second roller coaster in the world to be equipped with two inversions . It stood in the park until it was closed in 1980.

In 1982 it reopened at Alabama State Fairgrounds ( Birmingham , Alabama ) under the name Corkscrew , but was renamed Magic City Express a short time later .

In 1986 Canobie Lake Park acquired the track and it lay unassembled in the park for almost two years as it would have been higher than the city approved when assembled. In 1987 Salem gave the park permission to build the railway.

It was renovated by OD Hopkins and was also featured in the 1978 film Vicious Alpha .

layout

Canobie Corkscrew is 22 m high and has two inversions (a double corkscrew ). The journey time is approx. 1:30 minutes.
