The Canterbury Red Devils are a New Zealand ice hockey club from Christchurch that was founded in 2005 and plays in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League . The club plays its home games in the Alpine Ice Sports and Entertainment Center .
history
The club was founded in 2005 together with the New Zealand Ice Hockey League , in which they became one of four founding members. In their first season, the team was fourth and thus last in the regular season. After a third place in 2006, the team moved twice in a row as the main round winner in the finals, in which it was subject to Botany Swarm despite home rights . First, the team lost 7-0 in 2007 and finally just 3-2 in the 2008 season. In their third consecutive finals, the Red Devils won the 2009 for the first time with a 5-4 win over Southern Stampede Mastery . In 2012, 2013 and 2014 the team was able to win the New Zealand title.
