Dunedin Thunder is a New Zealand ice hockey club from Dunedin , founded in 2008 and playing in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League . The club plays its home games at the Dunedin Ice Stadium .
history
Dunedin Thunder was founded in 2008 as the fifth club of the New Zealand Ice Hockey League and was thus the first team to be included after the league was founded in 2005. In their first season, the team was fifth and thus last. In the 12 games of the season, Dunedin managed only one success. The team achieved their best position so far in 2014 when they reached the finals, which were lost to the Canterbury Red Devils 3: 4 and 6:14.
