The 2014 season is the tenth season of the New Zealand Ice Hockey League , the highest New Zealand Ice Hockey League . Champions were the Canterbury Red Devils for the fourth time in the club's history .

In the regular season, each of the five teams played a total of 16 games. The two best-placed teams qualify for the championship finals, which are played in the best-of-three mode. Each team receives three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime, one point for a loss after overtime and zero points for a loss after regular time.

The finals between defending champions Canterbury Red Devils and Dunedin Thunder were scheduled for August 24th and 30th, 2014. A possibly necessary playoff should have taken place on August 31, 2014, but was not needed because the Red Devils had already prevailed after two games.
