The Canwell Glacier is a 20.5 km long valley glacier in the northern Alaska range in Alaska ( USA ).
The 1800 m high nutrient area of the Canwell Glacier is located on the northern flank of Icefall Peak . In the east it borders on the nutrient area of the Gakona Glacier . The Canwell Glacier initially flows west-northwest, but then gradually turns to the northwest. The 1.3 km wide glacier ends at an altitude of 850 m . The nearly 5 km long Miller Creek drains the glacier to the Delta River , a left tributary of the Tanana River . The Richardson Highway runs 3.5 km west of the glacier tongue .
The glacier was named in 1898 by Captain Edwin F. Glenn after Private Canwell, a member of his team.
